Dr. Michael Tasso Rigas PharmD

Michael has been a pharmacist for the last 40 years. During this time, he has worked extensively in the Hospital Pharmacy, Retail Pharmacy, and Home Infusion Pharmacy settings. As of 2021 he is now retired and looking forward to using my work history and patient management experience to work with his son, Kristopher Rigas, in his Your Personal Pharmacy Business.

Michael graduated from USC School of Pharmacy in 1981 and did a 1-year Hospital Pharmacy Residency at UC San Francisco.Afterwards, he worked in the hospital pharmacy setting as the Clinical Coordinator at two large community hospitals then became the Chief Pharmacist of a 100 bed Community Hospital. In 1992 Michael began working in the Home Infusion setting as a part owner of an OptionCare Franchise in Arroyo Grande, CA. During the next 4 years he also worked weekends at his partners retail pharmacy and was on call for OptionCare and the Retail Pharmacy each of these weekends.

In 1996 Michael changed to work for Apria Healthcare running their Central California operations. This ultimately led to being the Chief Pharmacist for Apria for the whole county by 1999. In 2002 he became the Sr VP of Operations at Crescent Healthcare which was a nationwide Home Infusion company with patients in 40 states. This job led to Michael moving to Pennsylvania in 2008 to become the Chief Pharmacy Officer at the Geisinger Health System. In this job he was able to work with patients in all healthcare settings (inpatient and outpatient) and with expert administrators, nurses, and physicians that came from all over the world to work at Geisinger due to its reputation which is on par with organizations like the Mayo Clinic.

Finally, in 2010 Michael became the Chief Clinical Officer and co-founder of Kabafusion which has grown into a nationwide Home Infusion Company with patients in 45 states with a specialty in IVIG, Specialty Pharmacy, and Acute Therapies such as IV Antibiotics and Total Parenteral Nutrition.

Over the last 40 years, Michael has managed or overseen the care of over 100,000 patients. This experience has led him to be able to combine clinical, economic, insurance, and logistics experiences and expertise to make patients’ lives better. Before moving to Geisinger he served as the Senior Vice President of Clinical Affairs at Crescent HealthCare in Anaheim, California, a large alternate site pharmacy company specializing in infusion and specialty pharmacy therapies.

Michael’s areas of expertise include antimicrobial therapy, Immunoglobulin therapies, Nutritional support, Inotropic therapies, Pain control, improving clinical and financial outcomes, and optimizing payer and contract relations to improve patients’ experience. He is also active in the High-Cost Biologic/Specialty Pharmacy and infusion industries. He has worked on standardized coding for infusion billing, universal access via Patient Assistance Plans and managing Medicare Part D issues in front of the California board of pharmacy and CMS regional managers.Michael holds membership in the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists, the National Home Infusion association, and the American Academy of Neurology, and the Clinical Immunology Society.
